Andrew's procedure

Andrew had his tubes put back in his ears and his adenoids taken out yesterday. We had to be at the hospital at 8:00 AM and the procedure was scheduled for 9:00 AM. They took us back to a room right away and had Andrew change into a gown with Loony Toons characters on it and got his vitals. Then the anesthesiologist came in to talk to us and the doctor and then the OR nurse came to take Andrew away. Gene and I were sent out to the waiting room to wait for them to page us when the procedure was finished. After about 45 minutes or so the doctor came out and told us everything had gone smoothly and that they would page us again when he was out of the recovery room. About 15 minutes later we were paged again and told to go up to the 2nd floor recovery area where they keep patients for observation. Andrew was happy to see Mommy and Daddy and right away reached to be held. He snuggled with Mommy for awhile and then Daddy and Mommy took turns a little bit. Right away the nurse brought popsicles and Andrew downed 2 orange popsicles easily. Then some juice and some chocolate pudding. We were discharged around 2:30 PM and Andrew seemed to be doing fine. Mom and Dad Truwe picked up Noah from the baby-sitter's house and came over and brought a care package from them and one from Dana and family. Andrew said as he was opening the packages, "Mommy is it my birthday?" Andrew did get a little crabby when the pain medicine started to wear off, but not too bad. He ended up crawling into bed with Mommy and Daddy around midnight, which is about when the medicine was wearing off, and then slept the rest of the night. This morning he popped up and seemed like his normal self. He is at the sitter's house today (Sandy) and seems to be doing fine. I peeked in on her web cam and Andrew was being his normal self. We are thankful that all went well. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers!! I'll write about my Phoenix trip and post pictures later when I get a chance.
